Since Umbel works with major sports properties such as the Indiana Pacers, the PGA Tour and Circuit of the Americas, it was natural for us to choose to attend one of the sports industry’s biggest gatherings of the year. We’ll be at the IMG World Congress of Sports in Los Angeles on April 8-9 and we’re thrilled to meet the hundreds of sports leaders who will convene at the JW Marriott at LA Live for discussions on marketing, media and the digital future of sports.
Here are five things that we’re really excited about:
1. Rock star line-up of speakers
WCOS never disappoints when it comes to the caliber of their speaker faculty, and this year’s event includes feature interviews with Rob Manfred, Commissioner of Major League Baseball and Bob Iger, Chairman & CEO of The Walt Disney Company. Scott Blackmun, CEO of United States Olympic Committee, will participate in a rapid fire round table discussion, and the event wraps up with Jeff Weiner, CEO of LinkedIn, chatting about ideas that move us into the future. Oh, and rumor has it that Harvey Levin from TMZ is on a panel about “The Changing Face of Media and Sports Media!”
2. “New Ideas and Opportunities in Sports, Entertainment and More” panel
We’re excited to learn more about how brand marketers at Chobani, Nationwide, Harman and Constellation Energy are using sports as a platform to engage customers and which platforms they’re using to reach these customers. At Umbel, we work with brands in addition to sports properties, and it’s always interesting to see the intersection of sports and brands at events like the World Congress of Sports.
3. Endless flow of coffee
Umbel is hosting a coffee and networking break on day two of the event. Grab some caffeine, meet our awesome team and swing by our exhibit for the chance to win a GoPro camera! If you’re a registered attendee of the event, you can enter to win ahead of time by clicking here.
4. Networking, networking and more networking
We love meeting new people and with over 600 of the best and brightest in the sports industry attending the World Congress of Sports, there is sure to be some interesting conversations at the cocktail reception on Wednesday. Who has had the strongest start during the first week of the MLB season? What did you think of the NCAA men’s basketball final? We can’t wait to get the inside scoop!
5. Sunny Los Angeles
With the temperatures slowly rising here in Austin, we’re excited about sunshine, low-humidity and beautiful mid-70 temps out west. And with the event held at L.A. Live, we’ll be in the perfect spot to check out some new restaurants or grab drinks after the event.
See you there!
