Umbel Announces New Chief Marketing Officer, Lisa Pearson

AUSTIN, TX–Umbel, a leading customer data platform headquartered in Austin, TX, today announced that Lisa Pearson will join the company as Chief Marketing Officer. Pearson brings over 20 years of experience as a business leader with a strong track record of scaling global brands including Procter & Gamble, Dell, PepsiCo and many pre and post IPO companies. Pearson was recently the Chief Marketing Officer for Bazaarvoice (NASDAQ: BV) where she led all aspects of the global marketing organization and was a key member of the team that took the company public in 2012. Pearson will be responsible for developing and deploying Umbel’s global marketing strategy, reporting to CEO, H.O. Maycotte.

“We are thrilled to have Lisa join Umbel’s leadership team. Her experience will prove invaluable in our quest to become the industry leader helping global corporations make data-driven decisions. Lisa is a very strong leader. Her strategic acumen in identifying new markets, her passion for growing customer-first cultures and her expertise in scaling global businesses make her a great match for what Umbel needs to accelerate our growth plans,” says Umbel CEO, H.O. Maycotte.

“I have had the pleasure of working with Lisa for several years and could not be more thrilled  with her decision to join H.O. and his leadership team at Umbel. To win in the markets requires execution which in turn requires highly effective teams,” said Umbel Board Member Tom Meredith. “Lisa is a skilled professional practiced in the art of marketing. She is collaborative and has a unique ability to motivate others and believes strongly that the best way to predict the future is to help shape it.”

Pearson’s hiring follows Umbel’s recent move into the iconic, 20,000 square foot creative space at Seaholm Power Plant in downtown Austin, as the company prepares to double its employee base. Umbel works with some of the world’s leading media, sports and entertainment, retail and nonprofit companies including O’Reilly, Vox Media, YMCA and utilizes data to drive key behaviors, including ticket sales for SXSW, Circuit of the Americas, the Indiana Pacers and more.

“Umbel has a bold vision ‘to make data the most valuable asset a company can own’ which I find incredibly exciting. Allowing marketers to truly understand where their customers are and what motivates their behavior gives a leader the opportunity to make the right decisions throughout the entire customer lifecycle. H.O. has had great success developing breakthrough technology and I’m excited to scale these assets globally,” says Lisa Pearson.
